近日,第34届亚太工程组织联合会(FEIAP)全体大会暨世界工程大会在马来西亚砂拉越古晋婆罗洲会议中心(BCCK)举行。大会期间,经FEIAP推荐、世界绿色设计组织(WGDO)专家委员会评审,来自泰国、马来西亚、澳大利亚、菲律宾、缅甸、印度、中国、韩国、伊拉克等9个国家的14位工程界专家,正式获得绿色设计工程师(Green Design Engineer)资质评定。其中,多国工程组织主席与FEIAP核心领导层成员获颁,成为本次评定中备受关注的亮点。
From September 2 to 4, 2026, the 34th General Assembly of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) and the 8th FEIAP Convention were held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. During the Assembly, upon FEIAP's recommendation and evaluation by the Expert Committee of the World Green Design Organization (WGDO), 14 engineering experts from nine countries — Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, the Philippines, Myanmar, India, China, the Republic of Korea and Iraq — were officially awarded the Green Design Engineer (GDE) certification. Among the certified experts, the presidents (chairmen) of several national engineering organizations and members of FEIAP's core leadership stood out as a highlight of this assessment.

This cohort brings together heavyweight leaders in engineering from across the Asia-Pacific, spanning heads of international engineering organizations, academicians and scholars, senior executives of industry bodies, and veteran university experts. Three leaders at the helm of international and national engineering organizations drew particular attention: Prof. Dr. Aung Kyaw Myat (Professor level), President of both the Myanmar Engineering Council and FEIAP; Er. Manish Mahendra Kothari (Professor level), President of the Institution of Engineers (India); and Ir. Yau Chau Fong (Professor level), President of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia. These three leaders have long devoted themselves to developing engineering education standards, building professional qualification and registration systems, and advancing engineering industry governance, playing a key role in promoting the mutual recognition of engineering qualifications across the Asia-Pacific and strengthening the region's institutional framework for the engineering profession.

They were joined by other core FEIAP leadership members certified in the same cohort: Ir. Dr. Tan Yean Chin(Malaysia, Professor level), Secretary-General of FEIAP; Dr. Wael R. Abdulmajeed(Iraq, Professor level), member of the FEIAP Executive Committee; Chong Kee Sen(Singapore, Professor level), Chairman of the FEIAP Standing Committee on Environmental Sustainability; and Yuhyeon Park(Republic of Korea, Professor level), Chairman of the FEIAP Standing Committee on Natural Disasters and Emergency Preparedness. Deeply involved in FEIAP's professional committees, these experts lead institutional research and on-the-ground delivery in priority areas such as sustainable engineering, disaster emergency response and industry standards. Also among the Professor-level certified experts are Huang Wei(Professor level), Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chief Scientist of the Institute of Flexible Electronics at Northwestern Polytechnical University; Douglas Hargreaves(Professor level), Executive Officer of the Australian Council of Engineering Deans and Professor Emeritus; Kitjapat Phuvoravan(Professor level), Assistant to the President and Associate Professor of Kasetsart University, Thailand; Federico Aquino Monsada(Professor level), Director of Minercun Ventures Inc., the Philippines; and Yeeh Su Hong(Professor level), Chief Project Officer of Jesin Group, Malaysia. Rooted respectively in frontier scientific research, higher engineering education, industrial engineering practice and green technology transfer, they embed the concept of sustainability throughout research, teaching and engineering projects.

In addition, LEONG Kah Hon(Senior level), Associate Professor of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, and Zhang Ning(Senior level), a National First-Class Registered Architect at the China Architecture Design and Research Group, completed the Senior-level assessment.

The certified experts cover key engineering sectors including planning and construction, environmental ecology, energy and transportation, manufacturing, and digital communications. Many have long worked on engineering education standards, professional qualification systems and industry governance, actively advancing the practice of sustainable engineering and supporting the high-quality development of the engineering industry across the Asia-Pacific region.
绿色设计工程师国际职业资格认证由在欧盟正式注册、拥有联合国经社理事会(UN ECOSOC)特别咨商地位的世界绿色设计组织(WGDO)推出,依托覆盖40余个国家的全球网络,致力于培养掌握全生命周期减碳绿色设计技能的跨学科工程人才。绿色设计是从源头减碳的关键路径——产品与工程的环境影响,在设计阶段就已被大部分锁定,而真正把绿色设计落到工程实践中的,正是工程师。多国工程组织主席与代表的获证,体现了亚太工程界对绿色设计理念的高度共识。未来,WGDO将继续与FEIAP及各成员机构深化合作,让绿色设计工程师这一国际认证覆盖更多国家、更多领域,推动绿色设计从理念真正落进亚太乃至全球的工程实践之中。
The Green Design Engineer international professional certification is launched by the World Green Design Organization (WGDO), which is officially registered in the European Union and holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). Leveraging a global network covering more than 40 countries, it is committed to cultivating interdisciplinary engineering talent equipped with life-cycle carbon-reduction and green design skills. Green design is a key pathway to cutting carbon at the source: the environmental impact of products and engineering projects is largely locked in at the design stage, and it is engineers who truly turn green design into engineering practice. The certification of presidents and representatives of engineering organizations from multiple countries reflects a strong consensus on green design across the Asia-Pacific engineering community. Going forward, WGDO will continue to deepen cooperation with FEIAP and its member institutions, extending this international certification to more countries and fields, and driving green design from concept into real engineering practice across the Asia-Pacific and beyond.
